A exposição fotográfica, inserida na conferência “Três ilhas no contexto dos dois conflitos mundiais do século XX”, pretende realçar as relações sociais e económicas que se firmaram entre norte-americanos e açorianos, nas três ilhas onde se estabeleceram as bases militares. Documenta, igualmente, a importância que teve a construção do Aeroporto de Santa Maria, em 1944.

The photographic exhibition, part of the conference “Three islands in the context of the two world conflicts of the 20th century”, aims to highlight the social and economic relations that were established between North Americans and Azoreans on the three islands where military bases were established. It also documents the importance of the construction of Santa Maria Airport in 1944.
